I am taking on this new challenge with clear focus on 2019, and will work to further strengthen our Green family. To succeed, we must adapt to the demands of Europe’s citizens, and I will work closely with our 45 member parties in Europe to ensure that our vision for a better, Greener Europe becomes a reality.” EGP Co-Chair Monica Frassoni says: “We Greens have a vision for Europe that has the ambition to work for all parts of Europe. This is underlined by the diversity and plurality in our leadership. As the only European political family with a southern European woman as Secretary General, we’re sending a strong message of cohesion. Mar has a unique and powerful perspective on Europe’s future, and I look forward to working closely with her to ensure that the Greens become stronger than ever.”   EGP Co-Chair Reinhard Bütikofer says:  “Mar is a capable, enthusiastic and a strong Green voice, and she will push the EGP even further as we work on strengthening our position in Europe. I have worked with her closely on the committee of the European Greens, and have seen first hand her ambition for the wider Green family. I have no doubt that she will achieve it.” Mar Garcia Sanz succeeds Jacqueline Cremers (NL), who has served as EGP Secretary General since 2009.
